Chinese Medicine
We use a system of medicine that
has been used for over 3,000 years.
This system, called Chinese Medicine,
is based on the idea that there
are many levels of interaction between
different parts of the body, the
emotions and the environment.
Disease is a result of disharmonious
interaction. As these interactions
are complex, it is not surprising
that individuals display a variety
of patterns of signs and symptoms
and have a range of reactions to
change. Subsequently, we believe
that treatments, using Chinese medical
methods such as acupuncture and
herbs, need to be tailored to the
individual and their environment.
Often physical symptoms have an
emotional basis. In such cases philosophical
counselling can be a useful adjunct
to these treatments.

Who
We Are?
Dianah Rodrigues MSc.
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine
I am a scholar / practitioner
with over 16 years clinical
experience. I have seen and
treated a very wide range
of ailments, from numerous
bad backs and shoulders, to
emotional/mood disorders,
gynaecological problems, and
unusual mixes of symptom patterns.
I enjoy working with people
to identify their particular
patterns of physical and emotional
responses to stress and other
factors, and analyse them
according to the traditional
Chinese medical framework.
I am an active researcher
and author. My main interest
lies in understanding how
acupuncture and Chinese medicines
affect physiological signals
like blood pressure and heart
rate variability. My research
has shown me that acupuncture
and Chinese herbal medicines
has positive effects on the
dynamics of these signals
which increases the body’s
ability to adapt to changing
conditions.

Acupuncture ...
I became interested in Chinese
Medicine when I was learning
Tai Qi, Qi Gong and meditation.
These practices had benefited
me on many different levels,
and I wanted to learn as much
as possible about the more
subtle workings of the body/mind.
I completed a four-year degree
in Traditional Chinese Medicine
at the University of Technology,
Sydney in 2002. I have been
in practice since then. My
studies since graduation have
focused on Five Element Constitutional
Acupuncture. This area has
been especially rewarding
for me, both as a patient
and a practitioner. In terms
of my own personal growth,
I owe much to this beautiful
style of acupuncture.
Chinese Medicine has taught
me a great deal about myself,
but more importantly, it has
given me the opportunity to
help others, and to help others
to help themselves.

Counselling and Philosophy
Finding a solution
requires asking the right questions.
I am a counsellor
seeking to facilitate emotional,
intellectual and spiritual growth.
I encourage my clients to listen
to their hearts and follow their
dreams. I have been a philosopher
for over 20 years and have studied
great traditions in philosophy,
East and West. I combine my knowledge
of various ways of thinking, both
individually and culturally, with
emotional healing strategies acquired
from intensive facilitation training
workshops at Phoenix Rising Australia.
My professional background has taught
me to “think outside the square”,
offering a personal and organic
alternative to conventional therapy
in facilitating personal growth,
and resolving conflict in families
and workplaces.
